REGENERATIVE DAMPER WITH AN OPTIMALLY TUNED RESONANT CIRCUIT

A new energy regenerative type vibration damper and suspensionsystems have been introduced by the authors. However,it produces higher harmonic disturbing force to the vibratingsystem caused by the nonlinear property of regenerative circuit.For the small amplitude, it does not produce damping force andthe energy is not regenerated. This paper introduces a new ideaof using a resonant circuit between the actuator and the regenerativecircuit. For the frequency range near the resonancy, theregenerative voltage is amplified and the efficiency will be improved.The circuit also decreases the undesirable higher harmonicsto the damping force. For analitical simplicity, a resistanceis installed instead of regenerative circuit and an optimaltuning condition of the resonant circuit is developed. A simpleexperimental setup is made. The results are showing high potentialof improving the regenerative damper by using resonantcircuit.
