There are many methods and codes for pipe design and corrosion failure assessment. It is complicated to decide which of these method is the best. The main idea is to simulate the defect geometry as close as possible to real defect geometry and evaluate it by several methods.Based on pipe operation conditions in Lithuania and other countries the main causes of fracture were found. For the pressure pipes fracture assessment the most popular codes are: R-6, SINTAP, API-RP-579. Based on these methods some calculation results have been verified and assessed. As a result of these analyses recommendations have been made to assist in corrosion failure assessment.rnSpecial attention was paid to corrosion flows, pitting and stress corrosion cracking.
