FERNALD SILOS 1 2 STABILIZED WASTE TRANSPORT AND DISPOSAL PACKAGES

Approximately 7000 packages of stabilized waste from Silos 1&2 at the Fernald Closure Project in southern Ohio will be transported to a disposal facility. These packages have been designed to meet both transport regulations for an IP-2 package and waste acceptance criteria for the disposal facility. Key features of the package and transport conveyance designs are discussed, as well as the testing programs conducted during development of this equipment.
