Aiming at the low cost Si refining process by the solidification of Si with Si-Al melts for the solar cell use, investigations on the agglomeration method of Si grains solidified from Si-Al melt using electromagnetic force, and the laboratory scale refining test were carried out. Under the fixed alternating magnetic field, solidified Si grains were agglomerated in the Si-Al melts by the electromagnetic stirring and the high Si density part was successfully obtained. Furthermore, the solidification refining test using the induction furnace revealed the high purification ability of this method.
