In High Voltage Oil-filled Cable, Partial discharge (PD) cause degradation of insulation system and a study of their behaviors can give useful information regarding the state of the insulation system. Partial discharge tests are therefore, carried out as quality checks for the insulation system. In this paper, several typical defect PD models in High Voltage Oil-filled Cable are designed. The PD graphs and discharge parameters are measured by a digital PD measuring system (TE571). Results show that the shape, distribution of discharge pulse and symmetry of PD graphs varied with discharge models. Due to their presentations to different models characteristics, four parameters, including Sk(Skewness), Ku(Kurtosis), cc (Correlation coefficient) and Asy(Asymmetry), are selected from the finger parameter set. This can be served as the reference of PD pattern recognition.
