Tracking Wheel Test of Composite Insulators and Comparison with Inclined Plane Test

摘要

As a simple-stress ageing test of composite insulators, tracking wheel test has been newly accepted in the draft of IEC 62117, and it will soon be adopted as a formal ageing test of IEC document. Tracking wheel test has some advantages such as simple equipment, easily control, short time duration comparing with multi-stress accelerated artificial ageing test and etc. Several tracking wheel tests energized with AC voltage were investigated, and the results are analyzed and compared with the inclined plane test that has been adopted for many years.
