Researches on Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANET) largely depend on simulation and simulators. A new simulator, which called JiST/SWANS, is newly proposed. It's based on Java, and has features of efficient, robust, scalable and quick. This paper introduces the improvements we made for this simulator and also the implementation and simulation of Q-AODV protocol based on this tool. Q-AODV is a QoS version of AODV, which is a mature and widely accepted routing protocol for mobile Ad hoc networks, it can provide QoS (Quality of Service) support for real time flows. In this paper, several important improvements for Q-AODV are made for better QoS guarantee, and simulation programs are designed on JiST/SWANS platform. Finally, a simulation-based evaluation is presented.
