Combined tests on blasting vibration of intermediate rock pillar in neighborhood tunnel of expressway, analyzing the test velocity and the rules of the blasting vibration and investigating the safety vibration velocity problem of neighborhood tunnel. Scientific proofs can be provided for selecting the safety controlled blasting methods in the drilling and blasting construction of neighborhood tunnel. The stability of initial supports in tunnels under high critical blasting vibration velocity and elastic-plastic theory computation indicate that the value specified by the Regulations of Blasting Safety is leaning safety and there is also a great engineering potential in digging for mountain tunnel projects. For the advancing tunnel with lining, the maximum critical vibration velocity ought to be satisfied ≤25 cm/s in fill concrete and ≤45 cm/s in reinforced concrete.
