The oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane by air or O_2 into ethylene has been proposed as an alternative to the process of thermal cracking of ethane because of its lower reaction temperature and less catalyst deactivation due to coking. Recently, several attempts were made to use CO_2 as a mild oxidant replacing oxygen for the reaction. In this investigation, we prepared several supported chromium oxide catalysts and studied the effect of support on catalytic behavior in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane with CO_2.
