Satellite remote sensing on monitoring oil spill from vessel

Using satellite of Landsat and NOAA, we can monitor the ocean-pollution of crude oil, fuel oil, diesel oil, and lubricant oil. On the satellite image, we can not only recognize the oil's distribution, position, area, and its shifting direction and speed, but also divide polluted area according to the thickness of oil slick, and look for the oil source.
