IMAGE CODING AND PATTARN RECOGNITION

摘要

It is well known that the basic theory of data coding is Rate-distortion theory.It is pointed out in this paper that the theory and technology of pattern recognition plays very important rule in designing of adaptive data coding systems.Various classification motheds now have been adapted in Vector-Quantization systems and other coding systems.To incorporate the characteristics of human vision system into the image coding systems,classifier design should be carried out in a linear pattern space with respect to human vision system.Adding syntactics and semantics leads to even high compression performance.
