In September 2007, a full scalefour-story steel building specimenwas experimented to collapse on theE-Defense which is the world'slargest three-dimensional shaketablelocated in Miki City, HyogoPrefecture, Japan. The groundacceleration histories recorded at theJR Takatori station (namely Takatoriinput motion) during the 1995Hyogo-ken Nanbu earthquake wereused as the input for the shake-tableexperiments under various scales.Experimental result shows that collapse occurred under the100% Takatori motion, due to local buckling leading todeterioration of columns in the first story level. To open up thediscussion on the building specimen performance in the test, thisstudy evaluates the composite effect of concrete slab on steelgirders during seismic loading.
