摘要

An explicit and easy-to-use simplification of Mises’ yieldcondition for axisymmetrically loaded cylindrical shells isproposed. A good agreement between the condition and the FEAresults of stress resultants for the cylinder edge failuremechanism of steel cone-to-cylinder socket connections is found,especially for the region away from contact. Its application onthe cone bending failure mechanism will be discussed in thefuture.
