We proposed ground motion prediction equation (GMPE)for absolute velocity response spectra (ABSVR) in ourprevious study (Dhakal et al., 2015) from the point of viewof earthquake early warning (EEW) of long-period groundmotions. Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) hasproposed an intensity scale of four levels for long periodground motions based on ABSVR computed between 1.6to 7.8 s for 5% damping. The spectral GMPEs developed inJapan are for absolute acceleration and relative velocityresponse spectra; common parameters in these equationsare moment magnitude and fault distance. However, theabove two parameters require extended time fordetermination and hence not available quickly for an EEW.As a result, in this paper, we construct GMPEs for pseudorelativeand relative velocity response spectra (abbreviatedas PSVR, and RELVR, respectively) between 1 to 10 susing the JMA displacement-amplitude magnitude andhypocentral distance for the prompt prediction of longperiodground motions in wide areas. We proposecorrection factors for the sediment depth and shallow soileffects based an analysis of residuals. In this study, weperform a more thorough analysis using a revisedregression methodology from our previous study (Dhakal etal., 2014).
