The extensive ground use of wireless communication stimulates the applicationrnof wireless data bus in space, particularly for the application in human flights.rnThe current ground wireless systems such as Bluetooth and WiFi have advantagesrnof less complex and flexibilities in system configuration. They are standardizedrnand efficient, smaller and more economical than wired bus. One effectivernwireless bus solution recently proposed has been a Bluetooth communicationrnbus, to reduce bus volume and design complexity while maintaining thernintegrity of the design and even improving upon current standards. In this paper,rna test bed is introduced for the design and construction of such Bluetoothrnwireless spacecraft data bus. The tests include frequency selection, transmissionrnmethod, power consumption, effective range, network access and control,rnEMI and EMP compatibility. The test results indicate that the interfaces arernsimplified while maintaining high data rates due to the plug and play featuresrnand the reducible use of cables and connectors. The building cost and estimatedrndevelopment cycle are reduced by using existing standardized hardware/rnsoftware and the reliability might be increased if further studies of spacernqualification can be conducted.
