Time series synthesizers based on the Gamma and Lognormal distributions of rain attenuation are analyzed in this paper. The parameters of the models were obtained from measured rain attenuation time series of five terrestrial links operating at 15 GHz located in a tropical region. Long-term statistics of rain attenuation fade duration and fade slope obtained from synthesized time series are tested against the corresponding ones derived from experimental data. The sensitivity of the models to the dynamics parameter is investigated and useful empirical expressions for estimating the dynamics parameters of the synthesizers are validated.
