Mode stirred chambers are used to perform radiated susceptibility tests on equipment that is expected to operate mormally when exposed to electromagnetic (EM) fields. These tests are useful in identifying failure events in airborne equipment, medical equipment, and other electronic equipment that are exposed to EM field. The two major methods of modal excitation are mechanical mode stirring and frequency stirring. The majority of reverberation chamber tests are done using the mechanical method.
