A hyperbolic model for inhomogeneous, non-equilibrium two-phase flow has been developed based on the assumption that a physical relation exists between interfacial area and the void fraction for all flow regimes. Developed two-phase model consists of seven equations, i.e., mass, momentum, energy equations for each phase and modified interfacial area transport equation. By introducing new parameters in the momentum equations, the classical two-phase equation system has been changed to hyperbolic type, while they causes virtually no quantitative effect on the original equations. The hyperbolic equation system has five complete sets of eigenvectors, each of which having seven real eigenvalues. Three sets of them represents the propagation speeds of the physical properties for individual flow regimes such as dispersed, slug, and separated flows. The propagation characteristics of these eigenvalues have good agreements with both the experimental data and other theoretical results in two-phase mixture. The results of numerical tests show that the characteristics of equation system clearly distinguish the flow regimes.
