The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of polymer addition on drug release from matrix tablets. The matrix tablets of model compound diclofenac sodium were prepared by changing the polymer addition as before, during and/or after granulation. The drug release from all the formulations was compared in simulated gastric fluid without enzymes followed by simulated intestinal fluid without enzymes for 24 hrs. The results show that there is similar drug release profiles were observed for all the formulations. Method of polymer addition during preparation of matrix tablets does not have any significance on the release.
