Investigation of Formulation Factors on the Sublimation Rate of Orally Disintegrating Tablets

The current study aims to investigate the effect of formulation variables in determining the primary drying time ef lyophilised orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs). The influence of varied gelatin stock solution concentrations and freezing protocol on the sublimation rate and product temperature during the primary drying were investigated.The results showed significant impact of gelatin concentration and freezing protocol on primary drying rate. Increasing gelatin concentration in the formulation decreased the sublimation rate whereas annealing the ODT facilitated primary drying.
