NANOCOMPOSITE COATINGS FOR WOOD FLOORING

UV nanocomposites topcoats used in multilayer coatings for wood flooring were studied. Formulations were made of two acrylate monomers and two acrylate oligomers specially chosen for their scratch and wear resistance. Nano-size aluminum oxide (Al_2O_3) and zirconium oxide (ZrO_2) were added to acrylate formulations under different methodologies. Quality of nanoparticles dispersion was characterized by a particle analyser, a zetasizer. Cure behaviour was studied by Photo-DSC and correlated to scratch resistance data. Studies of coupling agents effects on properties were also performed.
