A new, multi-purpose coating for optical fibres with excellent aging behaviour

A new, dual layer multi-purpose primary coating (DLPC) for optical fibres has been developed. This new coating can be used in common loose-tube cable concepts as well as in more demanding 'tight' cable constructions like ribbon cables. With optical fibres entering the local loop, fibres need to be more resistant to harsh environments like water, high humidity and high temperatures. Due to the use of an acid adhesion promoter in the inner primary coating, the coating shows excellent aging properties and meets these higher mechanical demands on optical fibres.
