Putting the puzzle together: a network picture suitable for framing

During the past several years, rapid growth has occurred in both the number and types of computing resources available at Arizona State University. In the infancy of this growth, a limited strategy was developed to interconnect some of these resources. For the most part, though, each computing resource was viewed as an independent entity with access limited to those who directly utilized that resource. It was not entirely understood at that time how these resources would emerge to be pieces of a much larger puzzle. This is certainly understandable considering that computer network technologies were still developing, especially in the interconnectivity arena.
