Strategic Alignment and IT Investment SelectionUsing the Analytic Network Process

It has been argued that the reason many organizationsfail to fully realize the benefits of investments ininformation technologies is because of a lack of alignmentbetween corporate and IT strategies. This is further complicatedwith the difficulty of aligning IT investment decisionswith IT strategies. In this paper we present a proposedmodel to support the alignment of strategies to investmentdecisions. This model is presented as a hierarchicalmodel implemented through the Analytic NetworkProcess, a mathematical multi-attribute approach for decisionmaking that allows for the transformation of qualitativejudgements into quantitative values.
