Synthesis Document on Pipe Location Leakage Management for Small Water Systems

摘要

This paper describes a project funded by the Water Research Foundation designed to create arntechnical guidance document to assist operators of small systems to locate their buriedrninfrastructure, to identify water loss and locate leaks. The guidance document will include arnreview of available technologies, provide recommendations for applying them and offer trainingrnpresentation material and mechanisms to effectively communicate project output to the utilities.rnThe manual to be generated will provide a comprehensive review of available technologies, theirrnlimitations and approximate costs for small system operations and an overview of water lossrnmanagement techniques to assist the small system operator in determining water leakage. Thernproject will identify methods to convey the data to the small system audience that includes staternassociations and other agencies who provide assistance to very small systems. It is hoped thatrnthe output will clarify and improve the knowledge of the small system operator by providingrnsome simple guidelines for fundamental tools to be used for managing buried infrastructure.
