A CLIENT SERVER BALANCED INTRANET/INTERNET GIS AND MAP SYSTEM

Tampa Bay Water has created a tool for delivering water related information to a wide range of professionals via a Geographic Information System (GIS) web-enabled application. This application fulfills requests from staff, permitting agencies, and the public, resulting in resource productivity and cost effective information management. This paper will present web-based technological solutions that effectively integrate and distribute environmental and project-related information utilizing GIS. The GIS web-based application is an interactive tool that provides complex GIS functions to the staff members and board of directors with an easy operating interface. Client server system architecture is essential in order to widely provide access to this type of spatially related GIS application.
