Making wooden reconstruction models from the Codex written by Leonardo da Vinci

Models were reconstructed on the basis of the Madrid Codices and the Atlantico Codex written by Leonardo da Vinci, so that they could be used as teaching materials for students studying mechanical engineering. As a result of the reconstruction work, even if all models were faithfully manufactured according to these codices, there were still some models that did not function satisfactorily. The author considers that a number of concepts which had not been subjected to trial manufacture were recorded in the codices. In a lecture as part of a mechanics course, it was possible to generate an interest in mechanical engineering among beginners who studied the mechanics by using the reconstructed models. Similarly, an opportunity to consider the field of mechanical engineering was given to students of primary schools, junior high schools, senior high schools, and their parents, by the reconstructed models presented in the DA VINCI Festival at Toyama Prefectural University.
