Nowadays, indoor air quality take more and more importance due to the fact that we spend 80 to 90 % of our day time indoors. Volatile organic compounds and particulate matter present in indoor air can be eliminated respectively by adsorption and filtration. Activated carbon fabrics present good adsorption properties and can be easily performed in filter. These media are tested in this study for particulate matter filtration purpose, in order to characterize their ability to retain particles of diameter ranging between 0.25 to 9 μm (mean number diameter of 0.5 μm). Herein, filtration mechanisms and efficiency are studied for a woven media at velocity range of 0.5 to 1 m/s for alumina particles concentration of 100 000 particles/cm~3. rnImage analysis of the filter at different filtration test time shows the evolution of clogging. Preferential deposition zones and particle deposition evolution are observed in this particular fibrous structure. A first numerical approach, where flow rate is calculated in a pore, tends to confirm experimental conclusions.
