This paper discusses the evolution of the Army Cargo-Platform Maintenance Environment (CPME) and its role in achieving the goals of Soldier Focused Logistics (SFL). SFL will provide best-in-class weapon system support that off-loads the Soldier, meets Army logistics transformation goals, and affords the warfighter an unprecedented capability to manage their combat systems and accurately predict a true "Go-to-War" capability. CPME is a comprehensive maintenance management environment that links maintenance personnel to Army and OEM support structures through a set of highly integrated and responsive software applications and networks. CPME streamlines technical data delivery, data collection, maintenance management, configuration management and fleet data processing in order to aid decision making at all levels of the support structure. A series of CPME field trials over multiple years led up to the decision to field the system across the Army Chinook fleet in parallel with the Army's RESET and -714 engine modification programs. Considerable technical, process and cultural challenges are being managed to ensure the successful transition from traditional business processes to highly efficient processes focused on reducing the burden on the soldier. This presentation will share the lessons learned from CPME design, development and deployment and how the system is contributing to the success of Soldier Focused Logistics.
