Causes of structural damage to low-rise buildings in Gauteng (South Africa)

Causes of structural damage are often related to foundation or subsoil movement or simply tornincorrect design or construction of building structure. Such cases are widely published in specialist publicationsrnor technical literature. In this paper some specific type of structural damages are presented. The damages causedrnby mistakes in designs and approved for construction or by contractors who should never be allowed to builtrnhouses. The dangerous activity of building houses without proper knowledge and against all Codes of Practice,rnStandards and Regulations should be identified at earliest possible stages to protect public against financial losesrnand construction teams against eventual accidents.
