Masonry deterioration due to sulfate attack is related with the durability problem in tropicalrnand sub-tropical climates. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the behaviour of the fired clay brickrnmasonry wall exposed to sulfate condition. This paper presents some result on the effect of sodium sulfaternattack on the elasticity of the fired clay brick masonry structures. All specimens were prepared and cured underrnpolythene sheet for 14 days in control environmental room maintained at temperature 25±2?C and 80±5%rnrelative humidity. After the curing period, the brick units, mortar prisms and brickwork were exposed to sulfaternsolution before tested at 14, 28, 56 and 180 days. As a results, the elasticity of the masonry wall reduce with thernincrease of sulfate concentration.
