International Nuclear Safeguards Human Capital Development at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL)

As the international nuclear safeguards community faces a declining pool of safeguards expertise, it will be critical to continue fostering the next generation. Sandia has contributed to efforts by NGSI to address this challenge by strengthening human capital at the laboratory, universities, across the DOE/NNSA complex and with international partners. Through university engagement, coursework, training, internships, technology development, and national and international collaboration, Sandia has proactively supported the professional development of a new generation of safeguards professionals. By continuing this trend, Sandia plans to build its safeguards expertise and technical capabilities in an effort to support the international nuclear safeguards regime.
