摘要

Nowadays,Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process has been widely used in the area of space,aircraft,marine,fuel tank,food saving industry.Joining of composites is necessary to realize structural applications.In this paper authors discussed not only the welding of Metal Matrix Composite (Al-SiC) plates,but also joining of polymeric composites through FSW.Forces exhibited along the tool axis and weld direction during FSW joining of MMC were monitored and analyzed. The FSW processed MMC joints were analyzed with mechanical and metallurgical studies.Modified linear FSW process is used to join Polymeric Matrix Composite (PMC).
