The ground -borne vibration that occurred from the vibration source due to road traffic , construction works,etc. shows a r complicated propagation properties during propagation. In this paper, examination by the numerical computation was performed r to explain a attenuation properties with distance of the measured value of the ground vibration due to road traffic and r construction works. At first exciting forces of three directions to input for numerical computation was estimated reversely r by using the measured acceleration record of the measuring point which was near to vibra tion source. Numerical computation r was performed with the forces obtained by inverse analysis ,and the influence that a stratified structure of ground and r properties of exciting force gave to attenuation properties with distance of the ground vibration was considered by r calculation results. Thin layer element method was used for numerical computation , and the stratified structure of ground r model was made based on the soil boring log of the point that was near to the measuring line of ground vibra tion. As a key r result, it is recognized that the exciting force of horizontal direction plays an important role to explain the propagation r properties of the measured ground vibration.
