Drivers for packet-based utility communications networks-teleprotection

IP/MPLS is the technology of choice for utilities wanting to implement converged Smart Grid networks. By introducing the demand from utility, especially for smart grid, the article introduced utility's evolution to converged network, addressed teleprotection as key application and its design consideration, demonstrated the reliability in utility company in Northern America.
