摘要

The paper describes the first stage of the development of an intelligent grinding wheel.A force sensor-equipped demonstrator wheel is presented.The sensor is arranged inside the rotating wheel beneath one segment of the abrasive layer.Hence.it prepares the incorporation of sensors for measurement of vibrations and temperature.A telemetric unit aupplies the grinding wheel with power as well as performs the transmission of measured data to a stationary receiver inside the machining cell.Examples of in-process force measurement by sensor integration are demonstrated in different grinding operations.The results compare the grinding forces detected by the tool itself with conventionally measured grinding forces.
