Functional Testing: A Frugal Protocol for Mechanical Performance

摘要

A method has been developed to efficiently assess composites for use under-the-hood. It has the objectives of the Automotive Composites Consortium and would extend their method to include injection processes. The variability natural to such moldings, the anisotropy and nonhomogeneity, is accommodated by random testing and a result is expressed as a simple design datum in a context of probability. The method is based on principles which could lead to a stronger connection between laboratory and service, combined with improved information sources for the design engineer.
