One-component reactive polyurethane dispersion-based adhesives offer new perspectives for heat reactivatable adhesives. With the removal of open time limitations, production interruptions are allowed and simplified coordination of adhesive application, drying and final processing is possible. We expect that the new one-component technology will find its place in the market as an extension of existing two-component system. It should not be thought of as a 1:1 substitution for the two-component process. It is a different technology, whose strengths may be able to open new market segments. One cannot overlook that it requires an investment of technical effort by the adhesive manufacturer.
