摘要

The possibility to bond automotive substrates with high strength rubber adhesives, having enough impact absorption to withstand model crash tests on box beams submitted to drop tower tests has been demonstrated. Further investigations addressing fatigue behavior and implementing threshold values for the laboratory impact performance tests according to ISO 11343 will be required to fully understand the future potential of those new rubber adhesives. Certainly, not all metal joints to be bonded in automotive structures and hang-on parts will always require the same adhesive performance level. Therefore functional material selection -taking total adhesive process costs also into consideration - will also be reflected in more application related adhesive specifications for next car models.
