摘要

The accident at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) has sharply reduced the competitiveness of nuclear power. The construction of new NPPs was stopped, many units were inhibited, only three units on Balakovo, Kalinin and Kursk NPPs are built. These processes in many respects coincide the processes in USA after Three-Mile Island accident in 1979, in which partial destruction of a reactor core took place. After 1979 new NPP units have not been built in USA, in spite of the fact that due to existence of the protective shelter from concrete the consequences of such a failure in essence was an internal business of this NPP. Owing to these events in world and domestic power sector the conventional sources of energy were preferred: coal in USA and Europe, coal and gas in Russia. However it is not reasonable to build power of country on one source of energy since the absence of a competition will lead to preservation of out-dated technologies and sharp rise of the price of traditional power sources.
