This study was conducted to determine the effects on agronomic characteristics and yield of corn and on NO_3-N leaching and run-off, following swine slurry (SS) applications to corn cultivation land over a 3-year period at the experimental field, National Livestock Research Institute, Suwon, Korea. The amount of SS applied was at rates of 100%, 150%, 200%, 100% with additional chemical fertilizer (CF) 50%, and a no fertilizer control (NF). The ratio of corn ear from CF 100% and SS 100% treatments were 51. 5% and 51. 3%, respectively. The ratio of corn ear decreased, as the application level increased at application levels of more than SS 100%. The dry matter yield (DMY) with SS 100% was 8% less than that of CF 100%. The leaching NO_3-N concentration increased as the application rate of SS increased. The NO_3-N concentration via run-off was relatively small and the peak value was 2. 4 mg/L, which is less than the maximum contamination level of 10 mg/L of NO_3-N for safe drinking water.
