The alternating Copolymerization of epoxides and CO_2 using well-defined β-diiminate zinc complexes is described. Zinc complex 4 is a highly active catalyst for the alternating Copolymerization of propylene oxide and CO_2. We show that this catalyst is also active for the alternating Copolymerization of several other aliphatic and alicyclic epoxides. The ability to copolymerize both aliphatic and alicyclic epoxides is a unique feature of this catalyst system.
