Solar energy technologies mainly refer to solar photovoltaic (PV) technology and solar ther-mal technology applied in building field, which are strongly recommended by Chinese gov-ernment to reduce CO_2 emissions because of the characteristics of energy conservation, envi-ronmental protection and economical efficiency. Promoting the carbon trading on solar ener-gy technologies can reduce financial pressure of the government and relevant enterprises. Certifying the carbon trading volume reasonably is the principal task for carbon trading in the market. Based on relevant national standards and CDM small-scale project methodologies, this paper puts forward a simplified and practical method of checking and certifying the car-bon trading volume for solar energy technologies in building field. A comprehensive method-ological framework is presented firstly and specific calculation processes are provided respec-tively for solar energy technologies. Then five specific cases studies in view of different ap-plication technologies were selected to prove the practicality and reasonableness of the meth-odology.
