The Synthesis of Heat-Integrated Distillation Flowsheet: Approaches Combining Knowledge-Based and Rigorous Algorithms

An approach combining knowledge-based and rigorous algorithms is proposed for the synthesis of heat-integrated distillation flowsheet. A strategy of three levels is adopted for the problem solving ,ie.the generation of initial flowsheets and structures, the heat integration within the separation subsystem, and the integration between the separation subsystem and its background process. Simple column, complex column and various heat-integrated distillation structures such as heat pump, thermally coupled, multieffect and intermediate heat exchanging are simultaneously considered. The equipment and operating parameters of the proposed flowsheet can be generated with this approach.
