The aim of this research was to carry out a comprehensive simulation and analysis of flow properties in packed-bed reactors, of which package dyeing process is a good example. A mathematical model of the package dyeing process, based on the physico-chemical laws of dyeing that govern transfer, adsorption, and diffusion of dyes, is established. Navier-Stokes equations were coupled with Brinkman equations. Navier-Stokes equations were also combined with Darcy's law for comparison. The simulation results illustrate the velocity and pressure distribution of the flow through the packed-bed reactor. The effect of flow direction on the overall rate of dye levelness is also studied within the system. The influence of shear stress on flow within the system is also discussed.
