Video Protection Using Fragile and Robust Watermarks

A good video watermarking system should be both robust, i.e., integrity of watermark are well maintained, and fragile, i.e., integrity of the content is verified or authenticated. Previous proposed watermarking systems are, however, robust or fragile, not both. In this paper, a watermarking system, which is both robust and fragile, is proposed for video sequences. In particular, the robust watermark collaborates with fragile watermark to protect the author's intellectual property rights (IPR) as well as to protect the users from receiving malicious tampered contents.rnSimulation results show that the robust watermark can protect against intentional attacks, such as video sequence recompression, frame blurring, frame cropping, frame noising, frame sharpening, and frame filtering. Meanwhile, the fragile watermark is very sensitive, any tiny modification of the video content will destroy the fragile watermark. If the fragile watermark detection process fails in detecting fragile watermarks, system will alarm to the users that the video contents have been changed.
