The Design and Implementation of Mobile Database System SwiftDB

Mobile computing is an important direction of computer science and technology, and mobile database is the foundation of industry oriented mobile computing. SwiftDB is an embedded mobile database management system oriented industry application, which is developed by our research group. The key of the implementation of mobile database system is how to resolve the new problems of database influenced by the features of mobile computing environment, such as the mobility of computing terminal, the varying, intermittent, and weak connectivity of network, etc., and how to maintain the consistency of database in such situation. With the strong synchronizing servers, the data sharing and synchronizing between mobile terminal and the enterprise's center database were implemented in SwiftDB, and the heterogeneity of background center database was shielded; By introducing the concept of connector layer, the mobility of computing terminal was shielded, and a completed solution to realize transaction management in mobile computing environment was brought forward in a new point of view; The object oriented technology was used in the implementation so that the system could be customized very flexibly and finely according to the demand of actual application. The test application suggests that the design of SwiftDB is simple, effective and it can fit the bill of mobile computing.
