In this paper, a new promising contrast agent was introduced and investigated, which is a suspension of stable encapsulated air microbubbles sonicated with 5% human albumin, glucose, mannitol and a special additive. The microbubble size distribution of this contrast agent is given in this paper and the attenuation coefficients at 2 MHz and 4 MHz at various concentrations are measured. Furthermore, the B/A value of the liquid was found to be an increasing function of bubble number density and was much higher than that of most fluids and biological soft tissues. Finally, the medical application and prospect of such a new contrast agent were discussed.
