摘要

The present investigation has shown the effects of the adsorption of PAH and PVAm onto lignocellulosic fibres from unbleached and unbeaten kraft pulps with different yields. The mechanical properties of paper sheets made from these fibres were significantly increased (up to 47% in tensile index) after this modification, even for a small addition of polymer (such as 2 mg/g), emphasizing the impact of such a modification at the macroscopic scale. On the fibre scale, it was suggested that this effect was due to an improvement in the molecular adhesion between the fibres, or fibre/fibre joints, giving rise to a fibrous network containing fewer weak joints, which are responsible for the initiation of cracks leading to the rupture of paper subjected to a load [6].
