'Finding the performance in Performance Based Codes' Lesson learned from the pre-study for the renewal of the Swedish Fire Safety Code due to 2010

In 2006 Boverket (the Swedish Board of Housing, Building and Planning) appointed a fire safety consultant, Bengt Dahlgren Fire & Risk AB, and the dept. of Fire Safety Engineering at Lund University to make a preliminary study [1] for an upcoming revision of chapter 5 in BBR (the Swedish Fire Safety Code). Only minor changes have been done to the Fire Safety Code since 1994 when the performance based approach was implemented in Sweden.
